Slumberland Here I Come...
I would have never thought that I would be reading page after page of COMICS without getting bored. Little Nemo is more entertaing than the usual I read in the Sunday paper. The most significant thing was the artwork. There is color in every page, action in every page, different shifts in every page. Not even every page but every PANEL. The comics dont have a single boring moment. And I dont mean that they were funny as most comics are assumed to be; yet they were just interesting.
Some of the "mini stories" were funny but most I found to be a little strange. I just cannot imagine a person dreaming up these stories and putting them on paper every single week. (I think Winsor McCay is my new hero) His imagination is so broad and filled with the most random and smartly produced comics that I think i want to go to Sumberland (Yes even with all the risks!).
Sumberland seems to be the place that Little Nemo wants to get to and the Princess tries as many ways to make him her new playmate.
Although I think Little Nemo is sleeping and dreaming all of these litte events (as we disscussed in class), it might have to do with his subconcious mind and what he WANTS to happen in his life. I also think that as a reader we all have to remember that Little Nemo is just that, Little Nemo. He is a child. He doesnt know any better and whenever he is curious and we see danger, we have to be aware that he cant be more that 9 years old. So I know some people get upset at his "stupidity" but i think that if I was a child (and in a way I still am) Id want to continue dreaming and going through all these adventures.
