Living life too fast?
This video game definately broke the norm. There was really no point or goal to achieve, as there are in many of today's games. The character follows the basic love story line: boy meets girl, falls in love (heart) and runs through life together until they happily die. Although there was no climax, like boy loosing girl or girl cheating on boy kind of mishap... But maybe we're all just missing the bigger picture. Maybe this game was created to show the human race how quickly we run through life, always anticipating. Always wanting to get futher and futher ahead until we reach the end, while never stopping to think and enjoy the present. So maybe, the author of this game was in fact trying to relay a message.. instead of just creating a game where you run and die. I actually understood the message while playing the game.. It was kind of odd. At first I walked up to the other character, then the heart formed and we ran. Sappy sounding, but isn't it kinda true? This could also be a story, plainly about love. When in love, maybe time progresses so quickly that you physically have to stop yourself to enjoy the little moments. Just my thoughts.
I agree with this thought completely. I honestly did not even know what was really going on-- and I found myself disinterested and my attention was straying away from the game-- until I got to the part with the first grave where the girl dies and the man becomes displayed as old and bend over and gray. I found myself restarting the game so that I could go back and play once again, this time knowing what was going on exactly. To me, the game seemed entirely about falling in love and living a loving life with another person, a characteristic that is becoming more and more rare in American society. This game, as simple as it may seem, really does show the basics and allows the users to understand the story of love, and realize how simple a concept falling in love may be, and poses the possibility that maybe it is not that hard after all.
