Ree ahl ih tea.
To help myself get a firm grasp on what to write about for this blog, I simply googled "reality tv."
Very strangely, wikipedia was not numero uno, but an amazing place called REALITY TV WORLD was first.
http://www.realitytvworld.com/
This website is possibly one of the most overwhelming things I have ever seen. The reason I decided to mention all these things is reality TV is a PHENOMENON. This particular website has individual threads with one line news bits about reality stars in trouble, or actors in jail.
"'The Girls Next Door' co-star Kendra Wilkinson engaged to NFL player"
Who cares?
We care.
Why?
Reality TV gets us attached to our characters. More so than a scripted soap-opera, we tend to believe the genuine human portrayed on reality shows to be, well, real. Viewers bond with the characters, watching them go through "actual" problems, and begin to care about them.
Because of these bonds, website such as realitytvworld.com flourish. Providing viewers with information about characters lives outside of the show, and reviews of the most popular episodes. Realitytvworld.com acknowledges viewer attachment and exploits it on this disorganized website full of ads.
