Brian-washed preschoolers BEWARE.
I have just 'played' the game game game scribble "video game". I did not beat it yet, because I wanted to make this a two part blog entry haha. I played until I was a chemist three times. This is where the "game" end became a little difficult I also topped here because the content is SOOOOOO immense and needed to try and read, piece things together. What I have theorized so far is, it is subjective written poetry, referenced quotes from monotheistic/ main stream religions: buddhism, Christianity mostLY!!!, failures we have made as a society but maybe also paranoia we face that we have put on ourselves. The chemist part where there is shots oozing out and the tourist part where airplanes are crashing: not only did I get a sense of paranoia and fear myself, but I also found that these two places specifically referenced American Fears and paranoia that we have bestowed upon ourselves. I think the entire vide game was an expression of the American dreams, hopes, fears, paranoia, realities we face that is why the video's of "proof" are there. I am still thinking what the videos do besides reference a reality, subjective and sincerity scribbles and capitalism can't. It also seems to move in a progression that you first come to Christianity (your parents were and now you will be) and it is Overwhelming, it might not be negative but its shoved at the scribble quotes and signs and barriers. Then it moves on to other things that seem "free-will" attempting such as Buddhism and Capitalism, which are both polar opposites creating an interesting dichotomy for the character: after "beating" Buddhism. I have found nirvana in my path to capitalism.(here is where I do have a question though, when they scribble words out, obviously it holds meaning, but I need to know what one thing meant: it was in the last staircase of the capitalist level, where it states " Do you(crossed out) need to be told where to go? (to video clip) I’m thinking this might be something not exactly cheesy but somewhat IF im wrong, that the family, the videos is where the character should always resort back to.
Whenever you die it says “move on to meet your maker” (sometimes it does not, and sounds like Jamal has meet his maker but im thinking it’s the first)
Also in the second levl maybe that is a drawing he/she made as a child and is using for the video game which is really creative and gets the point across as well. The point that we have created our own problems in America comes up many times especially with the killer smog when he/she has to buy an apartment.
I really liked that part. I feel as if this was incredibly sophisticated and rich in iconography, poetry and a pure analysis, however a subjective expression of Americans today and the problems we face specifically as Americans. For my second part of my Blog I want to write about what people say in class and How it all comes together at the end. I'm excited because i think this is a coolest thing we've done, yet I can't find the notes on black board?
