Just Whose Work is This, Anyway?

Does the reader have the right to change a piece in order to make it more understandable? What if these changes alter the piece beyond what the author intended? Without really considering copyright infringement, how far does the theory of an author’s copyright go?

Mash-ups- Where Advertising Escaped To

The one thing I remember about health class in 7th grade was the unit on advertising. Or, more specifically, advertising’s use of the subconscious. The methods that advertising sometimes employs of making a message stick in the consumer’s mind are also noticeable in political mash-ups, specifically those viewed last class.

Mash and Burn (Man or medium)

At the end of the last lecture, the Dr. Rao posed to us a question about the appropriateness of mash-ups. How is new media permitted to get away with more then the political candidates themselves when attempting to sway individuals to their way of thinking? He also posed a question to the class, if whether or not we thought this unrestrained method of expression is appropriate.
